A Boxing Match at Blackpool Tower Circus in 1955      Catalogue No.1449

Located as it is directly under the four legs of the Tower, Blackpool Tower Circus is uniquely suited as a venue for sporting events. From when it opened in 1894, right up to the present day, the Circus has been used for boxing and many other sporting contests, including snooker, wrestling, and table-tennis.
The all-round seating arrangement with a capacity of 1350 means that the audience all have a good view of the action in the centre, and nobody is seated too far back.
This 10"x12" negative is so sharp that every spectator would be identifiable, but who are the two fighters in the ring in this photo taken in 1955? - maybe someone who knows the history of Boxing at Blackpool can let us know.
