The Queen Mother & Officers of the Manchester Regiment in 1954 Catalogue No.451 (detail)
The Queen Mother had been Colonel-in-Chief of the Manchester Regiment since 1947, and is here seen in pride of place with some Officers of the Regiment.
The full photo can be seen on page 3 of the Gallery, with a similar photo taken on the same day, of the Queen Mother with the Senior Officers of the Regiment.
These images were taken on 10" x 12" glass plate negatives, so the amount of detail visible on a large print is phenomenal. Every detail of the uniforms and medals is crisp and clear, and the faces must be clearly recognisable to any members of their families. No information has yet been provided to identify any of these men, so any help would be appreciated.
